Why some restaurants that "accommodate" gluten-free are not included
On occasion we get a suggestion for a restaurant that will "accommodate" gluten-free diners. While we appreciate a restaurant going the extra mile, we require slightly more of a commitment by the restaurant to be included in our database. Specifically we require one of the following:
- A dedicated gluten-free menu, or
- Indications on their regular menu of items that can be made gluten-free, or
- An allergen list showing menu items that don't contain gluten (and not just condiments and beverages!), or
- Provide gluten-free replacement products (i.e. bread, pizza crust, pasta, etc.)
We want to have the highest quality data in our database as possible, not just the most entries. Enforcing this policy is one of the ways we try to ensure quality. Our other goal is to motivate more restaurants to provide gluten-free menus.
Sincerely,
The Registrar Team
